Singer Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleon is not a happy man by the moment, we have learnt. He has been sued by a one Ms Zaina Muwonge, a South African based music promoter through lawyers of Lukwago and company advocates seeking to recover her money after the ‘Mateeka’ singer allegedly failed to appear at a concert for which he had been paid to perform.
Zaina who also trades as Sezana Promotions claims that in 2015, she entered into a gentleman’s agreement with the Leon Island Boss to perform at a concert dubbed ‘Wale Wale’ in South Africa. This was to take place in different cities including Durban, East London, Pretoria and Cape Town.
She adds on that she affected part payment of Shs15m to Chameleone and towards the due date of the concerts. She further paid more than Shs1m at the request of the Wale Wale singer to enable him and the crew process emergency passports after he said documents had allegedly been stolen.
Not only that, Jose Chameleon was also paid more than 11M for transport, booked hotels for him but to Zaina’s surprise, the singer and his management switched off phones on the day before his flight, making efforts to trace him fruitless.
Jose Chameleon Apologizes
However, in 2016, Chameleone called Ms Muwonge to apologize and proposed to re-enter another gentleman’s agreement promising to make up for the frustration he had caused to her before.
She again re-organised other concerts in the same cities but the ‘Daddy Abba’ played the same tricks he had played the previous year on the eve of the show.
This is the reason she has decided to sue the singer seeking to recover her money and orders compelling Chameleone to pay her damages for breach of contract, damaged reputation and property, including chairs and banners and property in the venues she had organised the shows.
